All about our participation in Mobile World Congress 2025

Mobile World Congress is the perfect occasion to present to the world the cutting-edge aspirations of those of us who want to shape the world of tomorrow. At Telefónica we have always been known for unveiling our latest innovations on this important date. With the slogan "Leading change, inspiring progress", we were be present for another year at this event organised by the GSMA, to present the latest advances we have made in the company's most cutting-edge projects.   
  
It’s the largest mobile communications trade fair, where thousands of senior executives from the world's leading companies, international governments and pioneering technology companies converge to connect and create the future. This edition took place from March 3rd to 6th at Fira Gran Vía (Barcelona, Spain) and, as we told you, it was possible to explore the main insights to find out where the industry is heading.   
  
And, of course, our Open Gateway team will be there. We participated in several days of the fair to present the new features of the initiative and amaze all attendees with our latest generation solutions. Do you want to know more? Read on to find out more about our presence at the fair.

As every year, we have a space where we connect the best of technology, great ideas and emerging voices. Located in Hall3 - 3K31, it had several spaces where important professionals from the technology industry and other sectors will be able to meet to reveal our extensive agenda of keynotes, keynotes and demos. Key talks in the Agora:  
  
The Agora is one of the key areas of the Telefónica stand where the company presents its latest technological solutions at each edition of the Mobile World Congress. This stage not only showcased the latest products and services, but also hosted conferences, debates and round tables with international experts on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, 5G, cybersecurity and the famous Internet of Things (IoT). We share with you some of the most outstanding titles from our team and other colleagues that you can't miss if you want to know the best of the innovation world.  
  

• Monday 03/03 | 10:45h - 11:30h: Keynote presentation "Open collaboration to innovate", by Chema Alonso, Chief Digital Officer of Telefónica. We summarise the most relevant tests and use cases for the Open Gateway initiative.
• Monday 03/03 | 14:00h - 14:40h: Talk: "Telefónica Open Gateway: driving revenue growth", by David del Val, Global Director of Telefónica Open Gateway. We looked at the evolution of Open Gateway at Telefónica, highlighting the new Open Gateway APIs and how global solutions are accelerating the integration of services across multiple operators. With real-world use cases from partners, we demonstrated the tangible impact on key sectors and how this is driving diverse businesses.
• Tuesday 04/03 | 9.30h - 10:15h: Joint talk with Telefónica Innovación España, Telefónica Tech and Telefónica Security Engineering, "End-to-end drones: next generation services" with the participation of Pedro de Alarcón, Head of Product Enriched APIs at Telefónica Open Gateway.  
• Tuesday 04/03 | 15:00h - 15:45h: Talk: "Network Slicing: revolutionising critical communications in 5G", with the participation of David Martín Lambas, Product Strategist and New Business at Telefónica Open Gateway.

Discover the full agenda of the Telefónica Agora here. All sessions had a hybrid format, with both face-to-face and digital versions. In addition, for the more adventurous, they were also able to connect from the Metaverse, via streaming on Spatial. Also, it was possible to access through the Living App on Movistar Plus+, to follow the presentations of the event live and watch them on demand once they were finished.

What would the world of technology be if we couldn't try out the amazing new projects that are coming out? That's why, in addition to talks and presentations, the Telefónica stand had other formats available so that all those attending the event could see its innovations first-hand. These are some of the proposals that could be found:
  

• Monday 03/03 - Thursday 06/03: Open Gateway 5G Drones Demo, in which we showed an end-to-end solution together with our colleagues from Telefónica Spain, Telefónica Security Engineering and Telefónica Tech. We showed an autonomous drone service using our 5G network infrastructure and capabilities, integrating our network APIs. 
• Monday 03/03 - Thursday 06/03: Demo Digital Operation Centre, where we showed the advanced capabilities of this comprehensive and global service of Telefónica Tech, for the supervision and operation of Cloud and Cybersecurity services.  In addition, in one of the use cases it was possible to further explore the capabilities of our tools and learn how our API Number Verification offers a secure way to prevent possible autonomous cyberattacks carried out by an AI. 

Apart from our participation in the Agora at the Telefónica stand, the public could also find us at other locations at Mobile World Congress 2025, where we were showcasing the opportunities that Open Gateway offers to take digital services to the next level. These were some of the highlights:

• Monday 03/03 | 15:45h - 16:10h: Panel "Exposing 5G Value with Open Gateway", with the participation of David del Val.  
• Wednesday 05/03 | 13:00h - 13:45h: Panel "The API Economy at Work: Fuelling the Telco to TechCo Transformation | Interfaces Re-Invented", with the participation of David del Val.

Zone 2 | Talent Arena:

• Monday 03/03 | 13:30h - 14:00h: Session "Hackers with Artificial Intelligence", by Chema Alonso. 
  Tuesday 04/03: Open Gateway DevCon, where we were one of the main sponsors. It was a conference within the MWC framework, designed by and for developers, where industry professionals were able to experience first-hand the benefits of opening up networks through Telco APIs.
• Monday 03/03 - Tuesday 04/03: Hackathon led by Nokia at Open Gateway DevCon (Talent Arena), where our APIs and our Sandbox played a special role.
• Tuesday 04/03 | 15:10h: Panel moderated by Aduna ‘How can operators super-charge the network API Community’, with the participation of Irene Bernal, together with Vodafone and MasOrange, at Open Gateway DevCon.
• Tuesday 04/03 | 18:15h: Keynote "Code session: Onboarding to Cabify with Number Verification", with the participation of Laura Lacarra, Head Developer Relations at Telefónica Open Gateway, and Pablo Villot, Principal Software Engineer Cabify, at Open Gateway DevCon.

Zone 3 | Other Stands:  

• Tuesday 04/03 | 13:00h: Talk "Accelerating CAMARA API Adoption through Cross-Operator Collaboration", with the participation of Irene Bernal and Vodafone, MasOrange and i2CAT, to talk about the initiative and the new multi-telco lab at the Vodafone stand.  

Zone 4 | 4YFN:

• Monday 03/03 | 11:30h - 12:15h: Round table "Intelligence Hour: Network APIs - Benchmarking commercial success", with the participation of Irene Bernal.
• Wednesday 05/03 | 10:30h - 11:15h: Round table "Intelligence Hour: Network APIs - Courting the Developers", with the participation of Laura Lacarra.
• Tuesday 04/03 | 13:00h - 13:20h: Santander X Global Challenge Awards Ceremony, at the Santander Startups stand at 4YFN, where we announced the winning solutions of this challenge in which we have been part of the organisation.
