Microsoft Build is one of the benchmark events in the technology sector. As every year, he landed in Seattle to bring together developers from different parts of the world and allow them to expand their skills in areas such as generative AI, cybersecurity, low-code, co-pilot creation or cloud platforms.
The theme of the event, "How will AI shape your future?", allowed for a review of the themes of the trend and the most innovative solutions to enhance developers' experiences and expand companies' business opportunities. It had an extensive agenda of keynotes, technical sessions and even tests to put the skills of its attendees into practice.
In this new edition, we presented the solutions that we provide from Telefónica Open Gateway to facilitate the work of developers and allow them to give way to a new generation of digital services through the opening of the network. How was Telefónica Open Gateway's participation in the event?
Events are one of the best ways to broaden knowledge, especially when it comes to matters related to technological innovation. New tools and possibilities to work in this field are emerging more and more frequently, so it is important to keep constantly updated in order not to be left behind.
As we mentioned, this year we were present at Microsoft Build to showcase our contribution to driving innovation in digital services. David del Val, our Global Project Manager, participated in a panel discussion, together with the GSMA, Microsoft and Deutsche Telekom.
He was addressing how the initiative is gaining more and more weight in the industry, reaching already 250 operators worldwide. In addition, he showed how the opening up of the telco industry's capabilities is giving way to new generation of applications that have not been possible until today. "The telecoms platform has many capabilities, and when it becomes a digital platform it allows you to create applications that were not possible before", said David.
The session provided a comprehensive overview of advances in programmable networks and the benefits of standardising the project's network APIs. To demonstrate the advantages for the entire digital ecosystem, a tour of real use cases in which our tools have been integrated was carried out, with companies as relevant as frete.com in Brazil. Our Global Project Manager at Telefónica explained how advances in technology and digital transformation are helping to streamline and secure their onboarding processes. Thus, it was explored how the integration of the Know Your Customer - Match API has allowed them to validate the identity of their drivers more quickly and securely, achieving transport routes with less risk, without compromising the quality of their user experience.
In doing so, it was made clear that this project is not only a joint venture between the major operators, but also involves collaboration between industries, technology companies, hyperscalers, network equipment providers, and even the technology companies behind the creation of mobile applications.
The panel discussion mentioned new launches recently announced at the event. The big player was Azure Programmable Connectivity from Microsoft, a platform where developers will be able to create applications more efficiently by using Open Gateway's network APIs.
Creators of digital experiences can use Azure's programmable connectivity SDK to interoperate with several of our Network APIs and optimise their applications with advanced functionalities: fraud prevention related to SIM card sharing, identity verification, connectivity control...
What else could you find at Microsoft Build 2024?
Microsoft Build offered an opportunity to learn about trends in the technology sector and the company's latest solutions. To this end, it offered its attendees a very broad agenda of keynotes to learn about a wide variety of topics: development of Artificial Intelligence, Data and Analytics, tools for developers, security in digital environments... It also featured the testimony of real partners to explain the solutions that are already being implemented.
It also had technical sessions for developers, where they can learn about the latest tools to open up new opportunities. Among other things, it addressed how to streamline their work with tools such as generative AI, Azure OpenAI Service and Azure Cognitive Search, with the aim of improving their productivity and speeding up their development.
If there's anything better than hearing about new developments in the industry, it's trying them out for yourself. That's why one of Microsoft Build's main focuses was its hands-on demonstrations and labs, which allow for increased skills in the creation of co-pilots, AI, cloud platforms and more.
For those attending the event in person, there was the possibility to take a Microsoft certification exam free of charge. There were several exams, with different levels and themes, so that each person can tailor the test to their circumstances. It was also a good opportunity to network and meet other technology lovers to share ideas, impressions and potential projects. In addition, Microsoft's experts offered support at all times to resolve doubts or further research on a specific subject.
