Blockchain Public Address API

The standardised Blockchain Public Address API allows the pairing of the phone number and the public address of a blockchain (DID - Decentralised Identifier) to perform transactions based on the phone number instead of on the DID.

This solution can manage a Blockchain Public Address associated with a phone number.

What can it be used for?

The integration of this API allows you to simplify and improve the transaction process within the web3 ecosystem for third party users. By establishing a secure connection between phone numbers and public blockchain addresses, you can offer more secure and efficient blockchain-based identifications and transactions.

Simpler web3 transactions

The Blockchain Public Address API allows you to use a phone number as an identifier, eliminating the need for alphanumeric strings and providing a straightforward and efficient way to conduct web3 transactions.

Secure storage

This API ensures maximum security, accessibility and privacy of decentralised identifiers (DIDs)

Simplified integration

As it is a standardised API, you can integrate the payment method into your applications without the need to customise implementations for each carrier. This simplifies the development process and reduces time to market.

Growth opportunity

By simplifying transactions in the web3 environment, the API enables increased adoption of blockchain services, generating greater user interest and participation.

Better user experience

The standardised Blockchain Public Address API is designed for developers. It offers a rich and seamless development experience to enable the creation of applications with advanced capabilities and guarantee a consistent user experience.

Use cases

Media, entertainment & XR

New opportunities in the gaming industry

The gaming industry often has its own token system and unique in-game ecosystems, so the need to be able to integrate blockchain technology into its applications is growing.

By having information on the public address of players, these companies can access a whole range of possibilities to improve the gaming experience of their users. For example, the Blockchain Public Address API allows the identification of players so that companies can associate player profiles with their public blockchain addresses, enabling smoother interactions in the gaming ecosystem, interactions between games, or asset transfers.

Smoother asset transfers

Cryptocurrency exchange platforms often face challenges in offering their users a smooth and secure transaction experience. Traditional asset transfers between users require the use of long and complex addresses that hinder the adoption of blockchain-based services, forcing users to meet physically to exchange QR codes or public addresses.

The Blockchain Public Address API allows you to use the phone number as an identifier, reducing unnecessary friction and offering you a secure option for your transactions.

Growth potential for DAOs

Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) need access to public addresses on the blockchain to perform various read operations, such as verifying transactions and confirming ownership of digital assets. The traditional process involves handling long alphanumeric addresses, which can lead to errors and inefficiency.

The Blockchain Public Address API provides a simple solution for DAOs to efficiently resolve public addresses, ensuring the execution of their decentralised operations seamlessly and without the need for advanced technical expertise to handle blockchain addresses, removing barriers to participating in the web3 ecosystem.

FAQs

CAMARA's Blockchain Public Address API is an application programming interface that simplifies and enhances the association of phone numbers with public blockchain addresses, streamlining transactions in the Web3 ecosystem.

CAMARA is the open source project led by the Linux Foundation in collaboration with the GSMA, which seeks to universalize network APIs under the same standards for all telecommunications companies.

The API simplifies and streamlines transactions within the Web3 and blockchain ecosystem. It provides an intuitive way to use phone numbers instead of complex blockchain addresses, making transactions easier for users. It bridges the gap between traditional telecommunications services and the decentralised world of blockchain.

The Blockchain Public Address API fits two main categories of use cases. Read-only access is suitable for gaming companies, DAOs and native Web3 companies that need to access public address information. On the other hand, read/write access is intended for telecommunications companies, wallet providers, cryptocurrency exchange platforms and other companies that intend to offer blockchain services, perform both read and write operations and enable various blockchain-based applications and services.

Yes, DAOs can leverage this API to obtain public addresses and perform read operations on the blockchain, facilitating decision-making and governance.

The main objective is to simplify and improve the end-user experience by facilitating transactions in the Web3 ecosystem through the frictionless association of phone numbers and public blockchain addresses.

The API provides a standardised solution that enables interoperability between telecom operators, facilitating collaboration and sharing.

Yes, wallet providers can use the blockchain public address API to establish and manage associations between MSISDNs (phone numbers) and blockchain public addresses. This allows them to perform write operations to facilitate transactions and user interactions within the blockchain ecosystem.

The choice of access type will depend on the requirements and functionality of the application or service. If only existing information needs to be retrieved, read-only access (GET) may be sufficient. However, if you want to make changes to the data or create new records, you will need read and write access (POST). Your use case needs to be assessed and our experts can be consulted to determine the appropriate level of access.
