Population Density Data API

The Population Density Data API can obtain dynamic information on the population density in a specific area and at a specific time to enable the drone ecosystem to prioritise less crowded areas.

This solution allows for near real-time detection of unexpected crowds of people, enabling the UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) operators to implement the necessary security measures, reduce potential risks and select the safest routes.

What can it be used for?

By integrating the Population Density Data API, it’s possible to access dynamic data, identify the number of people at risk on a given drone route and make early assessments on the ground. It thus keeps the drone ecosystem informed and proactive, enabling it to mitigate potential hazards.

In addition, the Population Density Data API Unified feature guarantees access to the network capabilities of different carriers through a single and standardised interface.

EARLY RISK ANALYSIS

The Population Density Data API provides the option of delimiting a specific route and time to detect the number of people at risk on a given drone route. This allows for dynamic predictions to assess the risks.

It provides a comprehensive analysis of the flight time, less risky routes and areas to be avoided. It can thus select routes that are safer for the population.

How to start

Follow these steps to access the Population Density Data API:

CHOOSE A PARTNER

Select a suitable Channel Partner or aggregator that offers integration with the Open Gateway API to meet your needs. Contact an expert for more information on Channel Partner availability or to become a new Open Gateway partner.

SIGN UP

In order to use Open Gateway products, you must register on the Partner platform.

ACCESSING POPULATION DENSITY DATA

Once registered and with your credentials, you will be able to access the Population Density Data API on registered carriers by making API calls through your chosen Channel Partner's gateway.

REVIEWING PRIVACY POLICIES

Population Density Data requires the consent of the end user to access the payment authorisation on their behalf, so you will need to register with Telefónica through the Partner's platform.

The API empowers users to carry out comprehensive risk evaluations and fulfill SORA standards with the required compliance level, rendering it an essential resource for maintaining regulatory conformity.

The Population Density Data API will help Drone Operators by providing data to identify if the ground risk class for a given drone flight is acceptable for the time of the flight, or an alternative time should be considered to lower the risk. The API will also provide BVLOS flight with the data to meet SORA 2.5 requirements in terms of intrinsic Ground Risk Class (iGRC).

To guarantee the anonymity of data, if the information linked to the cell at the requested time frame does not meet the required level of anonymity, the API will not return any data. This measure safeguards the privacy and confidentiality of individuals by withholding potentially identifiable information, thereby upholding strict data protection standards.

If you seek to retrieve population density data for a future timeframe, simply provide two essential parameters when using the API: the area, depicted as a polygon shape delineating the geographical area of interest, and the desired time interval for the population density data.
