During 2025, we have taken a significant step towards transforming the network into a platform of value for businesses and their customers. Beyond technical developments, the year has been characterised by the implementation of our tools in production.
What were once just promises have become concrete realities, already integrated into banking, digital content, and telecommunications services. Companies such as Itaú, TikTok, or CINFO not only tested these capabilities but also applied them to real use cases, with measurable results and in environments as demanding as banking.
Moreover, this significant development did not occur in isolation. It has occurred in several markets and with very different solutions, but all with one key approach: solving security, trust and experience issues with minimal friction and technical complexity.
We have also strengthened the existing ecosystem by improving solutions already launched in previous years, seeking consistency, alignment and global scalability. All of this leaves us better prepared than ever for the next goal: scaling up what already works.
To understand the real scope of this development, it is enough to look at some of the cases already underway in different countries:
Network and security enhancement applied to real-world environments
In Brazil, Itaú has begun using a solution —and in total already tests and uses seven Open Gateway tools— that makes it possible to detect whether a SIM card has recently been moved to a different device.
This feature, known as 'SIM Swap', helps to prevent fraud involving identity theft before it occurs. Each time a customer tries to perform a sensitive transaction, the bank can determine if that SIM has been moved to another phone and decide whether to reinforce authentication. With this solution, Itaú now performs 5 million validations per month, reduces the costs associated with identity validation by 15% and improves the efficiency of analysis processes by 10%.
In Spain, the company Cinfo has integrated a solution that enables network quality to be adjusted in real time. This is particularly useful for live streaming, sports broadcasts and environments with peak demand. This functionality, known as ‘QoD – Quality on Demand’, optimises traffic to ensure content reaches users without interruption, delay or loss of quality.
In the United Kingdom, the introduction of the Online Safety Act has created a demand for verifying the age of online users. In response, we have launched a solution that allows you to confirm whether a person is of legal age without asking for any documents. This tool, already integrated by several digital platforms, allows for compliance with regulation and the protection of minors without introducing friction in access for adults.
In Germany, several companies across different sectors have begun using a solution that validates mobile-user data within seconds. This capability, known as "Know Your Customer Match", compares the information provided by the user with the operator's data to confirm that they match. This solution is used to prevent identity fraud in digital registrations and speed up registration processes, all without creating unnecessary friction.
New solutions activated in 2025
In addition to the above cases, new solutions have been launched in 2025 aimed, for example, at identity validation, fraud detection and improved registration processes:
All these solutions are designed to be easily integrated and scalable while respecting user privacy. You can consult the catalogue of solutions on the project website.
Strengthening the existing ecosystem and vision for 2026
2025 has also been a key year for expanding existing initiatives. We have released updated versions of solutions launched in previous years, incorporating technical, functional and security improvements. This reinforces the common ecosystem, facilitates interoperability between operators and ensures that each integration is aligned with the shared standards within the global initiative.
What is significant about these launches is that they are no longer prototypes or isolated tests; they are already operating in production, integrated into real services, activating decisions that improve processes or reduce risks. Companies in different sectors have adopted them to solve specific problems, in real time and at scale.
Because if 2025 has been the year of putting it into motion, 2026 will be the one to scale it. More countries, more sectors, more solutions. All with one clear objective: to make the network not just infrastructure, but a direct source of value for businesses and their customers.
